Garrett Nussmeier drops hilarious Jayden Daniels story that shows his confidence
A pre-draft injury revelation doesn’t help Garrett Nussmeier, but he could still be in the Eagles’ plans. Nussmeier is taking things in stride, dropping a hilarious Jayden Daniels story that shows his confidence, according to a post on X by College Transfer Portal.
“LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier’s reaction to Jayden Daniels joining LSU in 2022: ‘I believed in myself. I sat in Coach Kelly’s office and told him he can bring anybody in here, and I’m gonna win the damn job.’ Obviously, you know I didn’t.’ ”
Nussmeier is projected to go in the second or third round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Nussmeier isn’t highly rated, according to NFL.com. He’s viewed as an above-average backup. Still, that can lead to a reasonably long NFL career. But at 6-foot-1 and 203 pounds, size is an issue.
“Undersized pocket passer with legitimate arm talent that has not been able to make up for some flaws in his game,” Lance Zierlein wrote. “Nussmeier is inconsistent diagnosing coverages and working through progressions, which limits his ability to counter what defenses show him.
“He plays with a gunslinger’s mindset and doesn’t consistently prioritize ball security. (And) he has a compact release and can spin impressive throws from off-platform angles when needed. He will make a throw that makes you a believer in one series, but he often follows that up with a turnover that reignites the doubt.”
Nussmeier has mobility. And he brings competitiveness to the field, according to The Athletic.
“Nussmeier is an aggressive competitor who can throw you into or out of games, but his arm talent and command are foundational traits that generally translate well to the NFL,” Dane Brugler wrote. “He projects as a high-level backup and spot starter.”
Anticipation also works well for him.
“As the son of a longtime college and NFL coach, it isn’t a surprise that he shows anticipation when reading out the field, toughness to negotiate muddy pockets, and the intangibles that should translate to an NFL quarterback room,” Brugler wrote.
