It’s a classic Premier League vs Championship clash in the Fifth Round, which isn’t always straightforward for the top-flight side.

Plenty of Southampton fans will make the trip to Craven Cottage with the whole away stand dedicated to the away support.

That atmosphere along with both sides going for the win to make it into the quarter-finals will be electric and should make for a great game for neutrals and both sets of fans alike.

Southampton are 7th in the Championship which is no easy feat in that division, while Fulham are tenth in the Premier League – perfectly mid-table.

Recent form

The Cottagers are of course the big odds-on favourites but it’s often worth the value betting on an upset, where the FA Cup is renowned for such shocks.

The Saints are in great form too, an ideal time to hit a good unbeaten record as they attempt to get into the play-offs.

They beat Leicester City 2-1 in the FA Cup 4th Round (in extra time) on Valentine’s Day and that contributed to their sixth win in seven games.

The Saints are also unbeaten in their last nine with only two draws in that time.

Meanwhile, Fulham have been difficult to predict – losing to relegation fighter West Ham last time out, but beating Tottenham just a few days before.

The Lilywhites beat Stoke City in the 4th Round but only by two goals to one.

They went down 1-0 in the opening 20 minutes before they had to perform a second half comeback, in which they sealed the winner in the last few minutes.

They could put out a similar squad too with plenty of changes as they’ve faced plenty of games in recent days and weeks, which could be another advantage for the Saints.

Adam Armstrong had 11 goals in the Championship alone this season averaging over a goal every three games before moving to Wolves in January.

Finn Azaz has a close record with nine goals in 33 appearances but neither of which have scored for the Saints in the FA Cup.

There’s been five different scorers for them so far showing they’ve not needed many goals to progress to this stage, but the way they’re scoring for fun recently shows they could make things tough for the Premier League side.

But it also means the Saints goals if any, could come from anywhere in the squad.

Even in their latest 3-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday, they had three different goalscorers including centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis, left-back Ryan Manning and right-back James Bree.
