Charles Barkley floored by Knicks support in San Antonio

The New York Knicks are as confident as ever after securing a dramatic 105-104 win in Game 2 of the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. As a result, Knicks fans in New York and elsewhere celebrated into the night as if they had already won the title.

Some of those fans were present at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. That was outstanding, according to Charles Barkley, per SportsCenter.

“That’s incredible, man,” he said. “We’re not in New York, Erine (Johnson), that’s incredible. ”

A sizable crowd of orange and blue stood around savoring the fact that the Knicks are in total command of the series. They will head back to New York for Game 3 on Monday at Madison Square Garden. It will mark the first time since 1999 that the Garden will play host to an NBA Finals game.

In 1999, it was the Spurs who dominated the eighth-seeded Knicks in five games, with the clincher at Madison Square Garden.

Amongst sports fans, Knicks fans are a unique breed. New York hasn’t won an NBA title since 1973. Over the years, they have had hope turn into heartbreak. It also helps that New York is a basketball city, with many legends of the game emerging from sanctified places such as Rucker Park.

The mindset among the players and fans is grit and determination, especially when times are tough. Undoubtedly, the Knicks have had tough times.

Nevertheless, the fans stuck with them and now could bear witness to history next week if it turns into a sweep.
