Footage re-emerges of NFL’s No. 1 ranked training facility that could help team win $30m QB race
The Miami Dolphins are pulling out all the stops in their pursuit of the most sought after quarterback this offseason.
In recent days, footage of the NFL team’s $135 million training facility has resurfaced on social media.
The facility, which broke ground in 2019, is widely considered as one of the best in the league, alongside the Atlanta Falcons’ facility that recently underwent renovations.
It’s frequently ranked top in player surveys, and the recent viral footage could help the Dolphins send a subtle message to one free agent target.
Malik Willis is considered the top quarterback available for many teams in need of a signal caller this offseason.
Willis is set to cash in on the open market, and is expected to command a salary of around $30 million per year, despite only starting six games over his four year career.
He is highly sought after because of his impact he had when stepping in for a concussed Jordan Love for the Green Bay Packers.
Across two years, he passed for 972 yards and six touchdowns with zero interceptions in 11 appearances for the Packers.
He has been tipped as the perfect replacement for Aaron Rodgers in Pittsburgh, but there will be plenty of other teams in the hunt, including the Dolphins.
Dolphins expected to pursue Malik Willis
Tua Tagovailoa’s time with the Dolphins appears to be all but over.
The 27-year-old was benched for the final three games of the season, after throwing for 20 touchdowns and a career-high 15 interceptions.
Rookie Quinn Ewers stepped into the role, and won one of his three under center as the Dolphins finished 7-10.
After a promising start under Mike McDaniel, which included two playoff berths and a Pro Bowl inclusion for Tua, things quickly unraveled, with the head coach shown the door at the end of the 2025 season.
At the NFL Combine, Dolphins general manager Jon Eric-Sullivan confirmed ‘everything’s on the table’ regarding Tua, who plays under a $212 million contract – touted as the worst deal in the league.
The financial implications of Tua’s potential release, barring a trade, will be staggering.
It will be a monster dead money hit of $99 million pre-June 1, or $67 million post June-1.
A trade is unlikely to happen, as teams are being warned off over his ‘severe limitations’ that have been figured out.
Alongside the Dolphins ‘flexing’ their state of the art facility, there is another reason why Willis might be tempted to join Miami.
This offseason, Miami overhauled its leadership, hiring general manager Sullivan, and head coach Jeff Hafley, both of whom arrived directly from the Packers.
For a Dolphins team who has not had a true dual-threat dimension at quarterback for some time now, Willis would represent a high-upside gamble as they enter the next era.
