Floyd Mayweather shock fight with 18-time kickboxing champion ‘announced’ as Mike Tyson clash in jeopardy

Kickboxing icon Mike Zambidis has posted an announcement claiming he is set to fight Floyd Mayweather this year.

Mayweather had previously announced that he was set to fight heavyweight icon Mike Tyson in a blockbuster exhibition this year.

Things initially went quiet over when the shock bout could land, but 59-year-old Tyson suggested the bout was still set to take place in March in Africa.

But further formal announcements have yet to follow and there is a real lack of promotion of the event, with a month to go until the potential showdown.

Now, further jeopardy has been cast on the bout if the social media activity of 18-time kickboxing king Zambidis is anything to go by.

The Greek K-1 veteran posted a fight poster of himself and boxing legend Mayweather, having teased an announcement hours before.

It showed the pair to be confirmed to meet June 27 in Athens, Greece at the Oaka Arena.

The poster included reference to Mayweather Promotions, suggesting they were involved in the event.

A caption read: History is about to be made.”

Zambidis is now 45-years-old and like Mayweather is beyond his physical prime.

He hasn’t fought since 2015, where his final bow in the kickboxing ranks came in a decision victory over Steve Moxon in a retirement event.

Therefore, it would be his first fight in 11 years and could well be in the professional boxing ranks under traditional rules.

Who else could Floyd Mayweather be fighting in 2026?

Mayweather of course appeared to be taking on Tyson, which already seemed far fetched given his potential rival’s dismal loss to Jake Paul in a 2024 comeback.

And as a result, several alternative options have remained in the pipeline with Mayweather open to all exhibition opportunities.

The 48-year-old has even been linked with a full professional comeback.

Most famous rival Manny Pacquiao has even been linked with an astonishing rematch with ‘Money’.

It was even reported that the pair were in talks over a blockbuster sequel.

But for now it appears Mayweather will travel to South Eastern Europe for the first time in his career.
