FIFA tells US it will host 2031 Women’s World Cup but Donald Trump issues ultimatum over specific rule
The United States is reportedly set to be granted hosting rights for the 2031 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
As a global pioneer in women’s soccer, the USWNT will relish the chance to play on home soil.

White House World Cup Task Force chief Andrew Giuliani, says FIFA has already informed Donald Trump of the decision.
“I know they’ve already told the president that the U.S. is going to get the World Cup in 2031, and that really should be fantastic,” he said.
Donald Trump issues ultimatum over FIFA’s gender policies
Trump’s administration is ready to host the tournament, but only if FIFA brings its transgender athlete policy in line with his own.
“It is important that the Women’s World Cup does not violate the policy of the United States of America in that it is important that women play in the Women’s World Cup and not biological men,” Giuliani said.
If Trump does not get his way, the U.S. could refuse guarantees over issues such as visas and security, which are an essential part of the process.
“That’s one of the things from our standpoint that will be really key in making sure that that is something that is good before any government guarantee discussions get going,” Giuliani added. “If that policy is in place, then I’m sure that discussions will progress pretty fast on this one.”
The International Olympic Committee’s recently adopted policy prevents transgender women from competing in women’s events and requires mandatory genetic screening.
FIFA does not demand mandatory verification, instead asking national federations to verify that players are eligible.
“Any perceived deviation in secondary sex characteristics” must be investigated and the findings documented.
FIFA has not confirmed the hosting rights, but a joint bid from the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica and Jamaica is the lone candidate.

An Extraordinary Congress is planned at some point in 2026 where the 2031 and 2035 Women’s World Cups will be awarded.
Giuliani says the tournament will allow the U.S. to showcase more of the country.
“I think it’s going to look a little different than this one,” he said. “I think it’s going to be amazing. Probably some different cities involved.
Giuliani is looking forward to bringing his daughter to games.
“It would be fantastic to see the top women in the world come to the United States and as a fan be able to take her to a match.”
World Cup champions ready to be crowned
Spain and Argentina meet in Sunday’s final at MetLife Stadium.
The winners will receive ‘bespoke championship rings’ in a first for the tournament.
2,026 have been created with 30 going to the victors and the rest sold to fans as FIFA looks to bring in as much revenue as possible.
It has been criticized as another cash grab in what has already been highly-commercialized tournament, with hydration breaks, a halftime show and even the MetLife field being auctioned off.
First, England and Argentina meet in the third-place playoff that many feel is an unnecessary extra game.
