Farmers Insurance Open betting tips: Selections and free bets for PGA Tour event

After Scottie Scheffler eased to victory at The American Express on Sunday, the second event of the PGA Tour’s ‘West Coast’ swing heads to Torrey Pines for this week’s Farmers Insurance Open.

The world number one has opted not to play in this tournament but there is still a stacked field, headed by 16/1 Xander Schauffele, ready to battle it out for glory.

Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg, winner of the 2025 Genesis Invitational which was relocated to Torrey Pines due to wildfires, is next in the betting at 18/1, just ahead of 20/1 Cameron Young, who has two missed cuts and a top-20 from his three Farmers Insurance Open attempts.

  • Ryan Gerard to win and each-way @ 33/1
  • Jason Day to win and each-way @ 22/1
  • Adam Scott to win and each-way @ 45/1

Gerard to land second PGA title

Ryan Gerard has been a model of consistency across his last three tournaments, having finished second at the Mauritius Open and Sony Open in Hawaii before sharing the runners-up spot at The American Express.

The 26-year-old is clearly striking the ball superbly to have been in contention for three tournaments in a row, and it would be no surprise to see him triumph on his second crack at the Farmers, having impressed when tied-15th on debut last year.

Gerard, winner of the 2025 Barracuda Championship, heads into this event sitting at a career-high 24th in the world and it is hard to see him not being in the mix for a second PGA Tour title come Sunday.

The American is eighth in strokes gained total in this early stage of the season and he looks like a real contender to claim the spoils in California.

Day in for Farmers hat-trick

One player in the field who enjoys visiting Torrey Pines is Australian Jason Day, who claimed the spoils at the venue in 2015 and 2018.

The 38-year-old ended 2025 with a couple of positive results at the BMW Championship (T23rd) and Bank of Utah Championship (T20th) and he started off 2026 with a tie for second at The American Express.

Day finished like a train on Sunday, signing for an eight-under-par round of 64, and that should give him a nice momentum boost as he bids to win the Farmers for a third time.

Along with his two victories at Torrey Pines, Day has registered one runners-up effort, two top-fives and two top-10 finishes, and he will be a dangerous contender this week.

Scott can shine in California

Another Australian to keep on side is Adam Scott, who looked brilliant from tee to green when finishing tied-24th last week.

The putter was the club that let the 45-year-old down, but he has thrived on the greens at Torrey Pines with a runners-up finish on debut in 2019 and a top-10 result in 2021.

Scott has been playing himself into some nice form over the last couple of months and this could be the week it all fits together for him.
