‘Fall back in love’ – Anthony Joshua appears to make private life revelation after Jake Paul win

Anthony Joshua seemingly revealed he now has a wife when reflecting on his 15-month break from boxing.

AJ ended his exile on Friday night with a brutal knockout win against YouTube-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

Paul was rushed to hospital with a double broken jaw and underwent surgery following the heavy hit.

Joshua fought for the first time since his KO defeat to Daniel Dubois in September 2024.

And the 36-year-old, who keeps his personal life private, appeared to reveal his martial status, although it’s unclear if it’s really the case.

As quoted by The Sun, Joshua, who has a ten-year-old son named JJ from a past relationship, said: “I was trying to fall back in love with boxing.

“I realised if you’re a family man, I was working away from home. I was spending time with my friends and my wife wasn’t happy.

“So I had to look at the decisions I was making and I had to come back home to boxing.

“I had to sacrifice. I had to take a look at my life, make necessary changes to put my love back into the sport.”

Joshua on criticism with Paul fight

Many tipped Joshua to wipe the floor with Paul in an early-round win, but this wasn’t to be.

The Brit finally delivered the knockout blow with a thumping right hand strike in the sixth round.

Speaking to talkSPORT afterwards, Joshua addressed criticism of how long he took to beat Paul.

“I deserve it,” he said. “Because we are elite fighters, if I put myself in the shoes of a coach, if my fighter did six rounds with Jake Paul…

“I would get him back in the gym tomorrow, give him a bit of a beating and get straight back to work.

“I’d be like, ‘How are you letting this kid take you six rounds, are you crazy?’.

“But I can’t go back in time, but credit to him, he done well. I told him what would happen but it just took six rounds to do it.”

Paul revealed after his surgery that he is in ‘lots of pain’, and can only eat liquids for seven days.

He landed just 16 of the 56 punches he threw across all six rounds.
