Exclusive: WWE legend Mark Henry reveals disappointing return update

Regarded as one of the most respected names in the pro-wrestling industry, Mark Henry, 55, wrestled his last match in 2018 at the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia. Shortly after, Henry was also inducted into the 2018 WWE Hall of Fame and has not returned to the ring since.

Recently speaking to Clutchpoints in an exclusive interview, Henry completely ruled out the chances of a return. The wrestling veteran no longer wants to get involved in a fight but rather wants a relaxing life.

“No. H**l no. No chance. Nope. If anybody makes an attempt  to hit me, I am gonna call the police, and they are gonna go to jail. No fighting. No wrestling, nothing. Only eating. And playing video games and traveling to go see things that I never got to see before,” Henry said.

A former strongman, powerlifter, Olympian, and pro-wrestler, the legend is now done with athletics. A former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Henry now wants to travel and just eat.

Mark Henry shares his thoughts on WWE’s John Cena Classic Tournament

Earlier this year at WWE Backlash 2026, John Cena opened up about the John Cena Classic tournament. However, months have passed, and there have been no updates regarding the tournament. In the same interview with Clutchpoints arranged by BetVictor Online Casino, Henry shared his thoughts on it.

“I think it’s gonna be awesome for the visual side for everybody to see a bunch of different wrestlers, and they’ll be able to wrestle a bunch of different styles, and whoever comes out on the end. You automatically can either put a title on that person, or you can give them an opportunity to face somebody with one,” Henry added.

Many online fans and critics considered the John Cena Classic’s absence of a win-loss record unusual. However, Henry did not find the concept weird and was in support of it. “Winning a title is not always the end of all endings. Like, a lot of times, Andre the Giant didn’t hold a title very much.

“Like, Brock Lesnar, he didn’t have the title very often. The Undertaker, how many times did you see The Undertaker in his career? Maybe five or six times? Like, that’s being valuable to the industry. Brock Lesnar, Oba Femi, no title, main event. The titles are important. They really are. But you wanna work the business and not have the business work you,” the veteran finished.

In the tournament, a traditional match outcome will not dictate the winner. That is, even if a Superstar loses, they can still be crowned a champion based on fan votes.

Speaking of John Cena and Mark Henry, fans automatically get redirected to their iconic 2013 retirement segment. When asked about Cena’s retirement, Henry claimed that he was initially very shocked by the decision.

“I was shocked, actually, because I didn’t think that John [Cena] would ever retire. But John is very interested in being a success in Hollywood, and you only have one life. You can’t do both all the time, and if you go your life with thinking, ‘Well, I can’t do this movie because WrestleMania is going on…’ You have got to put WrestleMania out of your mind. And now he’s able to do that. It took a long time, though,” he finished.

Away from pro-wrestling for months now, Cena now works as an ambassador for WWE, while focusing on his Hollywood career.
