Everton v Man Utd prediction
Manchester United make the short trip to Merseyside for tonight’s Premier League outing as the odds on favourites for victory at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Michael Carrick has won four of the five matches he’s taken charge of since being announced as the club’s interim manager until the end of the season, and will be eager to get back to winning ways after their win streak was ended by a draw at West Ham a fortnight ago.
The Red Devils start tonight’s match sat fifth in the Premier League table, level on points with Chelsea who sit above them, so could pull themselves three points clear of the chasing Champions League pack with victory tonight.
United are the only team in the Premier League yet to lose a match since the turn of the year, and have lost only once away from home in all competitions since September, though have also won just one of their last six on the road, albeit at the home of the league leaders, Arsenal.
Everton will also be looking to return to winning ways tonight after their five match unbeaten run in the league came to an end with a home defeat against Bournemouth just less than a fortnight ago.
The loss means that David Moyes’ side have now only two wins in their last eight in all competitions, and just one in their last four ahead of the visit of the Scottish manager’s former side tonight.
The Toffees start tonight’s match in ninth place, just three points better off than 14th placed Brighton, but now that victory this evening would take them level on points with seventh placed Brentford and firmly in the battle for European football next season.
The Merseyside club started their new life in their new home well, going unbeaten in their opening five matches at the Hill Dickinson Stadium following their move from Goodison Park in the summer, but haven’t won at their new home since the opening week of December, a run now spanning six matches, of which they’ve lost four.
Everton have only won one of their last eight matches against Manchester United, losing six of those, but did win their most recent meeting with the Red Devils, triumphing 1-0 at Old Trafford back in November.
United are very much the team in form heading into tonight’s clash against a Toffees side struggling for wins, particularly at home, which feels like a 2-1 away win tonight might be the most likely scoreline.
