Everton v Leeds prediction

Everton head into tonight’s match looking to make it back to back wins for the first time since the start of December following their impressive 1-0 win at title chasing Aston Villa last weekend.

David Moyes’ side have now lost only one of their last five Premier League matches heading into tonight’s tough clash against Leeds, and start tonight in 11th place in the table, knowing a win would lift them inside the top seven and just three points off the top four.

The Toffees started life at their brand new Hill Dickinson season well, going unbeaten in their opening five matches at their new home, but have since struggled in front of their home fans, winning just one of their last six in all competitions and losing three of their last four.

Leeds will also be in confident mood as they cross the Pennines ahead of tonight’s match in Merseyside, losing just one of their last 10 matches in all competitions and have having strung consecutive wins together for the first time this season.

The current run of form has seen Daniel Farke’s side climb out of the Premier League’s relegation zone and a win tonight would see them draw level on points with 14th placed Tottenham, eight points clear of the bottom three.

Away from home has been where the Whites’ have struggled most this season though, winning only one of their 11 league games on the road so far, though have lost only one of their last five on the road in all competitions following their win at Derby in the FA Cup a fortnight ago.

Everton have lost only one of their last six matches against Leeds, though that defeat did come in their most recent encounter on the opening day of the current Premier League season. The Whites have only won once away from home against the Toffees in 35 years.

Both sides will head into tonight’s match in confident mood but Everton will be brimming with confidence following their win at Villa Park, and will be roared on by their home crowd with the knowledge that they go three points off the top four with victory.

The Toffees’ strong record against Leeds at home, combined with the Yorkshire side’s less than impressive away record this season leads me to believe a 2-1 home win is on the cards tonight.

Everton v Leeds betting tips

Whites come unstuck against Toffees

Only Wolves have fewer than Leeds’ one away victory in the Premier League all season, while Everton, who have lost only once at at home against tonight’s opposition since 1991, are confident off the back of a rare win away at Villa and the potential to make huge striders up the table.

An Ndiaye for goal

Everton’s joint top scorer returns to the side for the first time since his victorious stint in Morocco which saw him and his Senegal side crowned champions of Africa, and Toffees fans will be desperate to have their star player back in action for their side tonight.

Stach sanctioned

No player on either team has committed more fouls across the season than Leeds midfielder Anton Stach.
