George is now undergoing a medical at Everton after being given permission to travel and complete his move.

His imminent arrival comes ahead of Monday’s 7pm deadline for Premier League clubs.

The Toffees had been expected to reinforce their frontline before the window slams shut next week.

This comes after Moyes said that Jack Grealish, who joined on loan from Manchester City last summer, ‘probably’ needs foot surgery and is likely to miss the rest of the season.

“We believe he’s probably going to need surgery, but that’s still not absolutely confirmed. It probably rules him out for the rest of the season, yes,” Moyes stated.

“It’s really disappointing for the player, and for the club and all of us. He’s such an important part, a big character, big experience for us.

“We will miss him, he’s done a lot of good things for us.”

Everton want one more in

David Moyes confirmed to talkSPORT that he hopes to sign one player before Monday’s deadline.

talkSPORT’s chief football correspondent Alex Crook asked Moyes: “We’re into the last couple of days of the transfer window now, do you anticipate some incomings? I know you’ve been mentioned with Tyrique George potentially at Chelsea.”

The Toffees boss, meanwhile, replied: “Yeah, I think we will have at least one incoming if we can.”

George has made a handful of first-team appearances for Chelsea this season, however he is yet to start a league game for the Blues in the 2025-26 campaign.

The 19-year-old forward missed out on a spot in the Chelsea squad for Saturday’s game against West Ham on Saturday evening.

Hedge your Bets

Along with an update on the Toffees’ transfer plans ahead of the deadline, Moyes heaped praise on Juventus-linked striker Beto following the draw with the Seagulls.

The 28-year-old bagged his third league goal of the season on the south coast at the weekend as the Toffees rescued a late point at the Amex.

“I’m really pleased for Beto because I say it and it’d be hard to tell you how good he is as a worker,” Moyes said of the forward.

“He’s doing everything to try and turn his form around. And he lives off goals. He wants to score.

“And once you get a goal, sometimes it can just change your fortune a little bit. This time last year when I first came into the club, he went on a brilliant run of goals for me.

“I hope that maybe that one’s going to give him a little bit of feeling that he can do it again.”

A late point at Brighton saw Everton move up to eighth in the Premier League as they extended their unbeaten run to four matches.

However, the stalemate means they have now won only one of their last five, and two of their last nine in the league.

Next up for the Toffees is a testing trip to Fulham next weekend before successive home games against Bournemouth and Manchester United either side of the FA Cup fourth round ties.
