Dodgers’ flurry of roster moves include moving Edwin Diaz to 60-day IL
The Los Angeles Dodgers are still trying to fine-tune a roster that hasn’t hit its stride yet, despite leading the National League West. Their season took its first hit early in the year when Edwin Diaz suffered an elbow injury, and the Dodgers moved him to the 60-day injured list on Sunday. In other roster moves, the Dodgers also selected the contract of reliever Wyatt Mills, while optioning Paul Gervase to the minors, according to the team via X, formerly Twitter.
Gervase, a long man out of the Dodgers’ bullpen, made his only appearance of the year on Saturday against the Atlanta Braves, allowing just four hits and one earned run over three innings, while striking out five batters. There were some surprised reactions to the news on Sunday, as fans believed that Gervase earned the opportunity to stay.
Mills hasn’t pitched in the majors since the 2022 season and was out of the game for two years before returning in the Boston Red Sox organization in 2025. He owned a 3.12 ERA over 32 appearances last season for Worcester, and has been equally as good this season for the Dodgers in Oklahoma City, recording a 3.26 ERA over 14 games.
Diaz had a great start to the season for the Dodgers, allowing just one earned run over his first three innings, while striking out six. It started to fall apart for him with his next two appearances, as he allowed seven hits and six earned runs. The Dodgers shut him down shortly after with his elbow issues, and hope he can return after the All-Star break.
