‘Disgrace’ – Jamie Carragher makes shock Mo Salah ‘sack’ claim after ‘choreographed’ explosive interview
Jamie Carragher has accused Mohamed Salah of trying to cause ‘maximum damage’ to Liverpool with his recent bombshell interview.
The Egyptian sent shockwaves across the footballing world on Saturday when he controversially claimed he felt ‘thrown under the bus’ by the club following his recent spell on the bench.

Following his side’s 3-3 draw with Leeds, Salah gave an explosive interview where he questioned why he had been dropped from Liverpool’s starting XI for three consecutive games.
He also declared he has ‘no relationship’ with head coach Arne Slot, with his comments drawing plenty of criticism in the days since.
The fallout continued on Monday, when Liverpool announced that Salah has been left out of the travelling squad for their Champions League game against Inter Milan on Tuesday.
It throws the forward’s future into doubt, with Slot since admitting he has ‘no clue‘ if the 33-year-old played his last game for the club.
What did Jamie Carragher say about Mohamed Salah?
The latest figure to speak out is Reds legend Carragher, who furiously suggested Salah had done the interview in attempt to get Slot sacked.
In a furious rant, the former defender insisted Salah had planned his controversial interview beforehand, pointing to a previous instance in 2024 where the star man spoke to the media about his Liverpool contract situation.
Speaking on Monday Night Football, Carragher raged: “I thought it was a disgrace.
“Some people have painted it as an emotional outburst, I don’t think it was.
“When Salah stops in a mixed zone, which he has done four times in eight years, it’s choreographed between him and his agent to cause maximum damage and strengthen his own position.
“He did that 12 months ago and I called him out on the show about it. He played on the heartstrings of Liverpool supporters. Liverpool were top of the league, he’d scored the winning goal at Southampton.

“That was the time to come out and put pressure on the Liverpool ownership, so for the rest of the season you’d have banners saying ‘give Mo his dough’.”
With Liverpool enduring a nightmare run of form which has seen them win just two of their last ten league games, Carragher claimed Salah had chosen to take advantage of Liverpool’s bad form.
Carragher continued: “He has chosen this weekend and he has waited for a bad result – conceding a last-minute goal, Liverpool players, supporters and the manager feel they are gutter.
“He has chosen that time to go for the manager and maybe get him sacked. That’s the way I feel about it.
“The phrase that jumped out at me was ‘thrown under the bus’. He has tried to throw the club under the bus twice in the last 18 months.”

Salah has scored 223 goals in 367 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions, with the Egyptian assisting another 99.
The 32-year-old is the club’s record goalscorer in the Premier League with 165 strikes, which puts him eighth in the league’s all-time list, and has been a driving force in their success since joining in 2017.
This includes last season’s title triumph and league glory in 2020, as well as winning the Champions League in 2019.
And Carragher suggested fans had been forgiving of other shortcomings in Salah’s game due to his huge output in the final third.
The pundit raged: “He has thrown the Liverpool right-back under the bus for eight years by not tracking back.
“Can you imagine playing behind him?
“But we accept it because he’s a superstar and he’s scored 250 goals and he’s given me as a Liverpool supporter some of the greatest nights of my life.”

‘Don’t be obsessed with your own numbers’
Continuing his rant, Carragher also blasted Salah for being too concerned by his individual numbers, highlighting an instance against Eintracht Frankfurt where he opted to shoot, rather than passing to teammate Florian Wirtz in a goalscoring position.
He ended: “The one time I wanted to be really critical this season about Mo Salah on the pitch – I have never been critical of him on the pitch – he is a legend of the club, if he never scores another goal goal or gets another assist for this, I don’t care.
“Where he let himself down was Frankfurt, and maybe another game, where there is a player who has signed for Liverpool who needs a goal more than anyone: Florian Wirtz.
“Instead of just being a great player for the club, be a great ambassador for the club. Roll the ball to him for an easy tap-in, and go over to give him a hug and a kiss and say ‘you’re the guy who is going to lead Liverpool forward’.
“I’ve seen Barnes at the end, I’ve seen Rush at the end, I’ve seen Steven Gerrard at the end. Do you think they were the same players as in their pomp? No, of course they weren’t’!
“The one criticism I’ve got: help the other players, don’t be obsessed with your own numbers.”
