Devin Booker has nothing but praise for Jrue Holiday before play-in clash

On Tuesday, the Phoenix Suns will play against the Portland Trail Blazers in the Western Conference Play-In Game. This was after the Suns played an inconsequential finale against the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder and won 135-103.

Not only that, but the Play-In game is a showdown between Devin Booker and Jrue Holiday. In the lead-up to the game, Booker extended compliments towards Holiday, per Hayden Cilley of ClutchPoints.

Overall, Booker reflected upon his time playing with Holiday at the 2024 Paris Olympics. At the same time, he wishes that Holiday gets greater appreciation for what he brings to the table.

“We’ve competed at the highest level,” Booker said. “We’ve competed together at the highest level at the Olympics. Someone that I have ultra respect for. One of the most underrated players to ever play the game.”

This year, Booker averaged 26.1 points and 6.0 assists per game. Meanwhile, Holiday averaged 16.3 points and 6.1 assists per game.

The Suns are coming in with a 45-37 record against the 42-40 Trail Blazers. In the final two games of the season, Booker sat out with a right ankle injury.

The Trail Blazers played their final game of the regular season against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday. Ultimately, the Trail Blazers won 122-110. Altogether, Holiday scored 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Their match-up history goes back to the 2021 NBA Finals. Holiday and the Milwaukee Bucks were able to stop Booker and the Suns en route to the NBA title. In Game 5, Holiday stole the ball away from Booker with less than 20 seconds left, leading to the Bucks’ 123-119 victory.
