The Detroit Lions head into the opening clash of Week 13 on Thanksgiving Thursday as favourites for victory from their clash with divisional rivals Green Bay, both of whom currently hold similar records in their bid to reach the playoffs.

The Lions have won the NFC North division in each of the last two seasons, but currently find themselves sat third in the divisional standings and just outside the playoff places, though that would all change with victory on Thursday.

Dan Campbell’s side managed to get back to winning ways last weekend with an overtime home victory over the New York Giants to follow up their low scoring defeat at Philadelphia the week prior, meaning the Lions currently hold a 7-4 record, despite starting the campaign 4-1.

The Lions will be looking forward to running back out onto the field in their home stadium, where they currently boast a 4-1 record this season.

Green Bay make the well-trodden trip across Lake Michigan to Motor City looking to build on a two-match winning streak following victories over the New York Giants and comfortable divisional win over the Minnesota Vikings last time out.

Victory over the Vikings has Matt LeFleur’s side sat second in the NFC North behind the Chicago Bears and currently occupying one of the wildcard spots for the playoffs with a 7-3-1 record, and are 5-2 since their bye week in Week 5.

The Wisconsin side make the trip to Ford Field unbeaten in their last four matches on the road, and on track to reach postseason for a third year in succession.

The Packers have only won two of their last eight matches against the Lions but did win the most recent meeting on the opening week of the current season, sealing a 27-13 win over last season’s top seed in the NFC.
