Desmond Bane has heartwarming question for Franz Wagner after Magic’s Game 4 win over Pistons

Many thought that the Orlando Magic would get swept. After all, they barely squeezed into the playoffs. Well, now, they have a strong chance to eliminate the Detroit Pistons in their first-round series.

The eighth-seeded Magic outlasted the top-seeded Pistons, 94-88, in Game 4 of their first-round matchup in the playoffs at Kia Center on Monday. They are now just a win away from advancing to the second round for the first time since 2010.

Their victory, however, could be costly, as Franz Wagner was forced to exit in the fourth quarter due to a calf injury. He did not return.

After the game, as the Magic were hugging each other on the court, Desmond Bane approached Wagner.

“You alright?” asked Bane.

“Yeah,” replied Wagner.

It was a simple question from Bane, but it spoke volumes about how the Magic genuinely look out for each other.

There were concerns at the start of the season about how Bane, Wagner, and Paolo Banchero could co-exist since they are all ball-dominant players. But they have proven that they can play together and share the offensive load.

Bane led the Magic in Game 4 with a team-high 22 points, including 5-of-10 shooting from long distance, and five rebounds. Wagner, meanwhile, had 19 points, five rebounds, three assists, and four steals.

The severity of Wagner’s calf injury is still unclear, as of writing.

In the meantime, the Magic will celebrate their win and look to build on the momentum from their back-to-back wins at home.

They are looking to become just the seventh eighth-seeded team in league history to reach the second round of the playoffs.

Game 5 is on Wednesday at Little Caesars Arena.
