De’Aaron Fox reveals how Spurs survived late Game 3 Timberwolves run

The San Antonio Spurs showed real playoff composure in their 115-108 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, and De’Aaron Fox made sure everyone understood why this semifinal matchup suddenly feels serious. In the middle of the NBA Playoffs pressure, the Spurs stayed calm as they weathered every Minnesota run. They executed late. And under the loud Target Center lights, San Antonio walked away with a huge Game 3 victory and a 2-1 series lead.

Fox explained exactly how San Antonio survived the Timberwolves’ fourth-quarter push in a postgame interview later shared by Spurs reporter Dusty Garza.

“I think we were able to execute in the second half,” the Spurs star said. “I think that’s what it came up to. Obviously, we had a great start to the game. They fought back. We didn’t assume that it would be like Game 2. They fought back. And like I said, in the second half, we executed down the stretch. And I think that’s why we were ultimately able to come up with this win.”

That execution showed up most during Minnesota’s late run. Anthony Edwards scored 32 points and repeatedly energized the crowd. Still, the Spurs never unraveled. Fox pointed to poise and ball control as the biggest difference.

“Especially when they went on the run in the fourth quarter, we didn’t turn the ball over,” Fox said. “I think we had maybe one. But just being able to control the ball, control the pace. I think we played at our pace the entire game. And I think that’s kind of wore them down.”

Victor Wembanyama continues to look unstoppable for the Spurs

Fox also praised Victor Wembanyama after the young star exploded for 39 points, 15 rebounds, and five blocks in another dominant postseason performance.

“I mean, greatness,” Fox said. “We all know that and we see him every day. We see the work and the time that he puts into his game and his body.”

Now the Spurs are one win away from taking control of the series. The Timberwolves still have fight left. But with De’Aaron Fox leading calmly and Wembanyama looking fearless, San Antonio keeps shining on the playoff stage.
