Dave Portnoy blasts Tom Brady and calls for Patriots to ‘tear down’ statue after reported trade block

It appears that Tom Brady is making some enemies with the New England Patriots faithful.

The Las Vegas Raiders minority owner made the decision to move on from star pass rusher Maxx Crosby, trading him to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round NFL Draft picks.

Ahead of Super Bowl LX, reports emerged that Crosby had expressed interest in playing for Mike Vrabel in New England.

According to a report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, though, should the Patriots have pursued Crosby, their chances at landing him would have been virtually zero.

Fowler wrote: “One person involved in the trade made an interesting point about the Patriots‘ chances at Crosby: ‘No way Tom [Brady] was sending Maxx to [Mike] Vrabel.”

This begs the question of why?

Brady spent two decades in Foxborough, leading the Pats to six Super Bowl victories.

The GOAT among NFL quarterbacks even received a 12-foot bronze statue that stands outside of Gillette Stadium.

More love lost between Brady and the Patriots

But in light of the recent rumors that Brady and the Raiders brass would have been unwilling to deal Crosby to New England, die-hard Patriots superfan Dave Portnoy has called for the statue to be torn down.

“I’m gonna start with Tom Brady. There’s a report from Pro Football Talk with the Maxx Crosby trade that he absolutely refused to trade Maxx Crosby to the Patriots,” Portnoy said.

“It’s starting to sound like a broken record here where Tom Brady is slighting the New England Patriots. Whether it’s ‘I have no dog in the fight’, who do you think the MVP should be, Drake [Maye] or [Matthew] Stafford and he said Stafford.

“It’s just one thing after another to the point that if you’re a Patriot fan that you can come to no other conclusion that he hates the New England Patriots. It’s not an accident.

“We just put up a statue of the guy. I say tear it down.

“Thank you for your Super Bowls. You’re just a guy. Go play your flag football game. Go be in a million different ads. I don’t need you in my life anymore and you don’t need us.

“I have a theory on what this all stems from because from the outside it makes no sense. [Bill] Belichick, gone. He’s friends with [owner Robert] Kraft. [Mike] Vrabel he played with.

“So, what is this hatred to the New England Patriots? The only thing I can think is he wanted to buy into the Patriots and he wanted it basically for free like he got for the Raiders and it didn’t happen, and he’s holding a grudge.

“Nothing else makes sense to me but hey. I’m not one of those guys that if you don’t like me, I don’t like you. Thank you for the Super Bowls. You have them. We have them. Go on your merry way, but I am done with this.”

This is not the first time that Portnoy has called out Brady.

Ahead of Super Bowl LX, the $375 million FOX color commentator claimed that he didn’t “have a dog in the fight” when asked who he was taking between the Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.

This riled up Barstool Sports founder Portnoy, who claimed that it was “pretty obvious” that Brady had no love left for the Patriots organization.

Former Patriots players, including that of Asante Samuel Sr. even called out the 48-year-old for not rooting for his former team over Seattle.

Just because he spent the majority of his career in New England, Brady shouldn’t be inclined to do business with his former team, especially with the Raiders being in the AFC and competing against them.
