Dave Allen reveals how many fights he has left after Filip Hrgovic loss with milestone eyed

Dave Allen wants to reach the 40-fight milestone before hanging up his gloves for good.

‘The White Rhino’ was well beaten on Saturday night by Filip Hrgovic in a step-up fight at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium.

The contest ended in the third round when Allen’s trainer, Jamie Moore, made the compassionate decision to throw in the towel while his fighter was absorbing heavy blows against the ropes.

Calls for Allen’s retirement have grown louder in the aftermath of the ninth defeat of his 36-fight (25-9-2) career.

However, Allen intends to close out his career with a four-fight farewell tour.

“Four more fights, I want to get to 40,” Allen told the Queensberry Promotions YouTube channel.

“Eddie is going to take me on a tour of the UK, and then the 40th one will be for the British or Commonwealth title.

“I’d like to win a major domestic title and then call it a day.

“Maybe we will come back here for the 40th [Keepmoat Stadium].”

Who holds the British and Commonwealth titles?

Moses Itauma currently holds the Commonwealth heavyweight title, although he is likely to relinquish it soon, with his sights set on world honours.

Richard Riakporhe picked up the British heavyweight strap in April when he halted Jeamie TKV, and remains a realistic future opponent, provided he continues down the domestic route.

Allen had reiterated before his fight with Hrgovic over the weekend that, had he won, he would have called out Tyson Fury, while in turn admitting that Riakporhe would be his back-up plan in defeat.

Allen fancies a shot at the British title, which is currently held by Riakporhe

“I’ve already got a comeback fight scheduled if I lose, ” Allen told The Sun.

“That is in my contract with Matchroom, I’ve got an eight-round fight, the same as the [Karim] Berrejdjem one.

“And then, the British title [with] Riakporhe, he is pretty tasty though, isn’t he?

“Riakporhe’s pretty f***ing good to be fair.

“I’ve got a good CV, I’m not going to mention their names.

“But yeah, Riakporhe’s good. British title level is probably my level, God knows how I’ve got this fight.”
