Crystal Palace vs Chelsea predictions

Chelsea beat Pafos 1-0 on Wednesday night in the Champions League.

The Blues dominated that match as they were expected to do but they struggled to really score as many as they could have after as many as 18 shots and as much as 68% possession.

Chelsea have seen a couple of wins since Liam Rosenior’s appointment with a victory over Charlton, a close 3-2 loss vs Arsenal, a 2-0 win over Brentford and a 1-0 win against Pafos.

Palace on the other hand are without a win in all competitions since December 11th, so it looks to be set up nicely for an away win.

Palace lost 2-1 against Macclesfield earlier this month in a shock loss in the FA Cup Third Round.

The last three meetings between these two sides have ended in draws, a 0-0 at Stamford Bridge earlier this campaign and two 1-1 draws last season.

They average 3.3 cards head to head, 9.7 corners and 2.6 goals in all competitions since 2016/17 season.

However, both teams scoring isn’t as common as you’d think with only 55% of games ending in such a result, the same percentages as over 2.5 goals.

In the 2023/24 season Chelsea did the double over their south London counterparts winning 2-1 at Stamford Bridge and winning this fixture 3-1.

Cards, goals, corners and gamechangers

With Palace struggling recently it would be wise to focus on potential players from Chelsea that can come up with a goal involvement or attacking contribution.

It seems this game could be focused on the Blues attacking performance so the likes of regular starter under Rosenior, Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer – who are a couple of players who could see their game improved with a new outlook from a different manager.

Palmer may have been needing a change in general after a bit of a drought in terms of goal involvements when comparing to his haul of goals and assists just last season.

Both these players scored last time out against Brentford, when the Bees had by far the most shots both on and off target.

But they should have plenty more chances against Palace.
