Crucial Corey Seager update included in latest Rangers injury news

The Texas Rangers have endured a mediocre performance throughout the 2026 MLB season. They are still more than capable of competing in the winnable American League West, but the Rangers are hoping to develop more consistency. Injuries have played a significant role in the team’s underperformance. Corey Seager is among the Rangers battling injury trouble. According to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com, Seager has been swinging and could potentially participate in a live batting practice on Saturday.

Seager is reportedly day-to-day as he recovers from a back injury.

Additionally, Landry reports that Wyatt Langford, who is dealing with a forearm injury, had live batting practice on Friday and will begin a rehab assignment on Saturday while Josh Smith, who has been dealing with meningitis, did some jogging on Friday.

Seager, 32, struggled before landing on the injured list. He was hitting just .179/.286/.353 across 42 games played. Seager did record seven home runs, but his performance was underwhelming overall. Texas is certainly hopeful that he will turn things around once he returns from injury.

The Rangers are currently 25-31 overall and in fourth place in the American League West standings. They are 2.5 games behind the first place Seattle Mariners for the lead in the division right now. Once Texas begins having players return from injury, the team’s chances of improving in the standings will increase.

At the moment, they are focused on their upcoming series against the Kansas City Royals. The first contest of the three-game series is scheduled for Friday night at 8:05 PM EST in Texas.
