Cowboys potentially poaching NFC East veteran cornerback

The Dallas Cowboys made some big upgrades during the 2026 NFL Draft. Dallas invested in multiple defensive players who could play significant snaps later this fall. The Cowboys may be closing in on adding a veteran defender who fans should be familiar with.

The Cowboys are hosting veteran cornerback Adoree’ Jackson for a visit on Tuesday, per Joseph Hoyt of Dallas Morning News.

Dallas only has one open roster spot left and Jackson is the only player visiting the Cowboys on Tuesday. That suggests he could join the Cowboys as long as he passes his physical.

Jackson spent the 2025 season with the Eagles and played under new Cowboys defensive coordinator Christian Parker. He logged 55 tackles, 11 passes defensed, and one interception in 14 games played last season.

Jackson was a first-round pick during the 2017 NFL Draft. Before his one-year stint with the Eagles, Jackson spent four years each with the Titans (2017-20) and the Giants (2021-24). Cowboys fans should be very familiar with his work.

The nine-year veteran could provide some solid depth for the Cowboys on defense. It would be shocking if he ended up competing for a starting job.

Dallas already has DaRon Bland and Shavon Revel Jr. as their projected starters on the outside. Cobie Durant and Caelen Carson are next in line with plenty of other players in reserve. Rookie safety Caleb Downs projects to take a lot of snaps in the slot, so it is unlikely that Jackson would get many snaps inside.

It will be interesting to see whether or not Jackson ends up joining the Cowboys. Either way, their woeful defense should be much improved during the 2026 season.
