Courtside Spurs fan goes viral for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander MVP poster

The Oklahoma City Thunder came into Thursday night’s Game 6 against the San Antonio Spurs hoping to close out the series and advance to the 2026 NBA Finals. But Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and co. will have to wait until Saturday night to try and earn a Game 7 victory after the Spurs fended off elimination.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished Game 6 with just 15 points and four assists on 6-of-18 shooting from the field and 3-of-3 from the free throw line. It was a forgettable effort for the back-to-back Most Valuable Player of the NBA, whose 15-point night was the lowest scoring total since May 24, 2025 when he scored 14 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves in a blowout Game 3 loss, 143-102.

Spurs fans have been going at Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the arena and on social media for his foul-drawing tactics since before these Western Conference Finals even began. In the second half of Game 3, cameras captured one Spurs fan’s very creative poster calling out Gilgeous-Alexander for flopping.

The top of the poster, which appeared to mimic a newspaper cover read, “MVP,” while the bottom read, “Most Valuable Phlopper.”

Fans reacted to the poster on social media.

Some Thunder fans were a little upset at the poster.
