Como vs AC Milan predictions and betting tips – Rossoneri aim to bounce back

For the second match in a row, AC Milan dropped points at the weekend. The Rossoneri have ground to make up on Inter, but they remain right at the centre of the Serie A title conversation.

A trip to high-flying Como in the midweek round of fixtures represents a tricky assignment for Max Allegri’s men. Can they get the job done on their travels?

Como vs AC Milan predictions

We are now more than halfway through the Serie A season and it remains difficult to say just how many teams are in the title race.

At the time of writing there are four teams within seven points of Inter in first place. If Juventus were to beat Cremonese on Monday evening as expected, there would be just four points separating the division’s leading quintet.

Needless to say, that is considerably tighter than the equivalent gap in the Bundesliga, La Liga, Ligue 1 and the Premier League.

AC Milan are one member of the group of five. They are second as things stand, just three points adrift of table-toppers Inter.

That is a pretty good position for them to be in – certainly one they would have settled for last summer – but the table could easily have made for even better reading for Max Allegri and co.

Indeed, while Milan are unbeaten since the opening weekend of 2025/26, when they suffered a shock home defeat by Cremonese, they are drawing more games than their manager would like.

Allegri’s side have been held in three of their last five outings. Sassuolo left San Siro with a point in the middle of last month after a 2-2 draw. Then on January 8 and January 11, Milan tied 1-1 with Genoa and Fiorentina respectively.

Those two were particularly frustrating results for Milan. Genoa are fourth-bottom and Fiorentina are third-bottom. Both are relegation candidates, yet the Rossoneri could not find a way past either side.

Wasteful finishing let them down against Genoa. Milan registered a remarkable 32 shots and racked up an xG of 2.45, but they only scored once.

The Fiorentina match was closer. La Viola held their own for long periods and were ultimately good value for the draw. It was a blow to their title ambitions, although Allegri continues to deny Milan are involved in anything other than the race for the top four.

“We have to focus on ourselves and getting back to winning ways, because we drew the last two,” he said on Sunday.

“There are still 34-36 points to go for a Champions League spot. Let’s not lose sight of reality: we started with 50 per cent of the squad changed, we’re doing well and must try to improve.”

Como vs AC Milan betting tips

AC Milan make the short trip north to Como in a Serie A fixture on Thursday night.

Honours even in Como?

Como are not far behind the five title contenders. A victory over AC Milan would see them move within three points of Allegri’s outfit.

Champions League qualification no longer feels like an unrealistic objective for Cesc Fabregas’s high-flying side.

Como are unbeaten at home this term, so Milan should expect a tough 90 minutes at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

At the same time, the Rossoneri are yet to be defeated in a league fixture on their travels in 2025/26.

Both those records could survive Thursday’s game intact. Another draw beckons for Milan.

Low-scoring match awaits

AC Milan have not been as prolific as they ought to have been in recent weeks, but broadly speaking the number of goals they have scored is broadly in line with their xG.

Only Inter have found the back of the net more often, a fact which provides a riposte of sorts to the critics who accuse Allegri of being too defensive.

Thursday’s clash with Como is likely to be on the lower scoring end of the spectrum, though.

It is notable that there have been under 2.5 goals in each of Milan’s last three games, and in four of their last five.

This bet has also paid out in three of Como’s five fixtures since mid-December.

Paz to find the net

Nico Paz has been a key part of Como climbing into the top six this season.

No one has scored more league goals for Fabregas’s charges, with Paz having made the net bulge six times.

That is a solid rather than spectacular return in absolute terms, but only four players have outscored Paz in this Serie A campaign.

The Argentinian is one of Como’s main threats in the final third and the odds on him scoring against AC Milan are too attractive to overlook.
