Commanders’ Terry McLaurin reveals Jayden Daniels’ role in offseason bonding exercise

The Washington Commanders are ready to welcome quarterback Jayden Daniels back into their offense. Wide receiver Terry McLaurin will once again be one of his top pass catchers.

As Daniels gets ready to return, he organized team workouts at UCLA and USC over the offseason. For McLaurin it gave the Commanders an opportunity to bond as a team before going into battle, via JP Finlay of NBC Sports.

“He led the charge with that. We just wanted to get connected and start with a Day 1 perspective,” McLaurin said. “It was a time for us to just connect and get some work in. We hadn’t seen each other since the end of the season. Just a good time to bond and get some work in. It wasn’t all about ball, we got to hang out.”

Due to injury, Daniels played in just seven games during the 2025 season. Because of that, McLaurin caught just 38 passes for 582 yards and three touchdowns. But a year prior, with Daniels in his Rookie of the Year season, McLaurin caught a career-high 13 touchdowns alongside 82 receptions for 1,096 yards. A two-time Pro Bowler, McLaurin’s seven-year run with the Commanders has resulted in 498 receptions for 6,961 yards and 41 touchdowns.

With Daniels back under center, the Commanders will have their sights set on a deep playoff run. McLaurin will play a big role in any success they find through the air. But after a lost 2025, Washington needed to find themselves as a team again. Daniels is trying to lead the charge of getting the Commanders back on track.
