Commanders make flurry of roster moves amid training camp

The Washington Commanders continued reshaping their roster Saturday as training camp progresses, adding three veteran offensive linemen while parting ways with two players and placing another on the Reserve/Retired list.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the moves on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Commanders’ roster moves:

Signed veteran C Daniel Brunskill, OT Nicholas Petit-Frere and G Max Scharping
Released WR Chris Hilton Jr. and G Timothy McKay
Placed DT D.J. Davidson on the Reserve/Retired List.”

The additions provide Washington with experienced depth along the offensive line as the team prepares for the 2026 season. Brunskill has started games at both center and guard during his NFL career, while Petit-Frere brings tackle experience after previous stops in the league. Scharping also adds versatility, having played both guard positions throughout his professional career.

Meanwhile, the Commanders released wide receiver Chris Hilton Jr. and guard Timothy McKay as the roster continues to evolve throughout camp. Defensive tackle D.J. Davidson was placed on the Reserve/Retired list, ending his time on Washington’s active roster.

Training camp often brings frequent personnel changes as teams evaluate depth, address injuries and identify the best 53-man roster before the regular season begins.

Washington’s next opportunity to evaluate its revamped roster will come in preseason action. The Commanders are scheduled to open their exhibition slate next Friday against the Miami Dolphins. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET as the team continues preparations for the start of the 2026 NFL season.
