Colorado HC Deion Sanders lands big recruiting win over West Virginia
Colorado football continued building momentum on the recruiting trail Sunday as Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas three-star safety Samari Howard committed to the Buffaloes following an official visit to Boulder, according to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett. Howard chose Colorado over Indiana and West Virginia after concluding his weekend visit with the program.
Howard is ranked as the No. 708 overall prospect in the 2027 Rivals Industry Ranking. He is also listed as the No. 75 safety nationally and the No. 69 recruit in the state of Florida, based on the same ranking system.
Howard’s commitment added to a busy recruiting weekend for head coach Deion Sanders and Colorado. A total of five class of 2027 prospects announced pledges after official visits to campus. On Saturday, offensive linemen Jaiden Lindsay (Olney, Maryland) and Zaquan Linton (West Palm Beach, Florida), along with linebacker Jovon Pulliam (Hoover, Alabama), committed to the Buffaloes. On Sunday, running back Steven Alexis (St. Petersburg, Florida) and Howard and also joined the class.
All five recruits had taken official visits to Colorado during the same weekend window before announcing their decisions.
With these additions, the Buffaloes’ 2027 recruiting class has reached 14 commitments. The group now stretches across nine states, with four players from Florida, as Sanders continues to plant his flag in the state. Howard also becomes the fourth Florida prospect to commit to Colorado in the current cycle.
