Chelsea vs Arsenal predictions and betting tips – Title rivals go head-to-head
Arsenal are top of the Premier League, and with other teams struggling for consistency, they are now strong favourites to win the title. A victory here would move them nine points clear of Chelsea in second.
A win for the Blues, though, would suddenly blow the race wide open. Can Enzo Maresca’s men make a major statement of intent on Sunday?

Chelsea vs Arsenal predictions
We are only in December, yet this feels like a massive match in the Premier League title race.
Arsenal hold a six-point lead at the summit of the standings heading into the weekend. A win here would move them nine points clear of second-placed Chelsea, while it would also maintain their seven-point cushion above Manchester City at the very least.
A Chelsea victory, on the other hand, would suddenly move Enzo Maresca’s men within three points of top spot. And if City were to beat Leeds United on Saturday as expected, the top three would then be within four points of each other.
Chelsea were not too far off the top this time last year, but a post-Christmas collapse saw them fall too far behind Liverpool to challenge for the championship.
That was understandable to an extent given it was Maresca’s debut campaign at the helm. Chelsea fans will be less forgiving if the Blues go on to tumble down the table in 2025/26.
Right now, though, the west Londoners are in a good place. They delivered their best performance of the season to date on Tuesday, beating Barcelona 3-0 in the Champions League. Maresca will hope that was a coming-of-age result for his young side.
Chelsea are also in fine form domestically. They have won five of their last six matches in the Premier League, with Arsenal the only team boasting a better record in that time.
Chelsea have done all that without their star man, Cole Palmer, who is closing in on a return to the pitch. There is even an outside chance he will start on Sunday, although an appearance off the bench is more likely.
Having said that, Arsenal remain the team to beat in the Premier League. They also demonstrated their European credentials in midweek, beating Bayern Munich 3-1 in a top-of-the-table Champions League clash.
Arsenal have taken 16 points from the last 18 available in England’s top flight, with last weekend’s 4-1 defeat of Tottenham Hotspur particularly pleasing for the club’s supporters.
The Gunners are favourites to win the league as December approaches. Liverpool are in freefall, while Manchester City are not as reliable as they were in their Pep Guardiola peak.
On Sunday we will learn whether Chelsea are Arsenal’s principal challengers in this season’s title race.

Chelsea vs Arsenal betting tips
Second-placed Chelsea face first-placed Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday.
Arsenal the better team
Chelsea have won their last three in the league without so much as conceding a goal. Since getting some key defenders back from injury, Maresca’s men have really tightened up.
With Estevao delighting the fans and Palmer available for selection again, Chelsea are not short of quality in the final third either.
Yet the Blues are not quite in Arsenal’s class just yet. Arteta has assembled a formidable team that is capable of beating opponents in several different ways.
Arsenal are not only a fantastic footballing side; they are a streetwise outfit too. Time and time again they find a way to win.
That will stand them in good stead on Sunday. The visitors can triumph in this top-of-the-table clash at Stamford Bridge.

Go for goals
Both Chelsea and Arsenal were involved in midweek games that contained more than 2.5 goals, and we expect this one to follow suit.
Arsenal’s defence has not given much away all season, but the Blues have scored in 100 percent of their games since the opening weekend.
Something has to give, and it will probably be Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes-less backline.
If Chelsea do make the net ripple, that would require Arsenal to score at least two goals to win. Despite the Blues’s solidity of late, Arteta’s charges are more than capable of doing that.

Madueke to strike again
Noni Madueke scored his first Arsenal goal in the impressive victory over Bayern Munich in midweek.
With Leandro Trossard a doubt for Sunday’s London derby, Madueke now looks set to start against his former club Chelsea.
The England international will not be short of motivation against the club that let him go in the summer.
Madueke has had a promising start to his Arsenal career. Now that he is fit again, the winger can make his mark on this weekend’s game.
