Club Brugge vs Aston Villa (Tue, 5:45pm)
Reigning Europa League champions Aston Villa kick off this season’s Champions League league phase with a trip to Belgium to take on Club Brugge.
Unai Emery’s side head to continental Europe with just one draw and three defeats from their opening four matches of the campaign, including a 2-1 defeat to PSG in the Super Cup.
The Villans have just one point from their opening three Premier League games, sitting joint 17th in the table and are still yet to score a goal in the league this season.
Club Brugge, meanwhile, have won four of their five league matches so far this season, with the reigning Belgian champions having won both of their home league games this season without conceding a goal.
The two teams faced each other three times in the 2024-25 Champions League campaign, the Belgian side winning 1-0 at home in the league phase before Aston Villa returned with a 6-1 aggregate win in the knockout stage to book their place in the quarter finals.
Porto vs Manchester City (Tue, 8pm)
Manchester City head to Portugal sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table after victory in all three of their league matches so far, with victories over Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and, most recently, newly promoted Coventry under the new management of Enzo Maresca.
Porto have kicked off the season in outstanding form, with six wins out of six in all competitions and just one goal conceded, putting Francesco Farioli’s side two points clear at the top of the league table as they hunt back to back titles for the first time since 2013.
Manchester City have never been beaten by Porto across their four previous meetings, of which they’ve won three – though their most recent meeting back, December 2020 did end in a 0-0 draw.
Liverpool vs Atletico Madrid (Wed, 8pm)
Liverpool picked up their first win of the season on Friday night with a 2-0 win at Ipswich getting new manager Andoni Iraola his first victory following draws in their previous matches against Newcastle and Nottingham Forest, leaving the Reds sat sixth in the Premier League.
Atletico Madrid fell to their first defeat of the campaign over the weekend with a 3-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao, which leaves Diego Simeone’s sixth in the table with seven points from their opening four games.
The Reds have won their last three matches against Wednesday’s opposition, including a 3-2 victory at Anfield in last season’s league phase after Virgil van Dijk scored a 92nd minute winner.
Iraola has never beaten Simeone in his managerial career across four meeting, losing three of those, though the Spaniard was managing Rayo Vallecano at the time.
Napoli vs Arsenal (Wed, 8pm)
Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Chelsea on Sunday afternoon leaves the reigning Premier League champions with four wins out of four to start the new season, though attention will now firmly be on the Champions League as they look to go one better than their runners up finish of last season this time around.
Napoli have had a slow start to life under Massimiliano Allegri with two defeats in their opening three matches of the campaign following back to back defeats against Como and Inter Milan, which leaves them sat in 11th place in the Serie A table.
The two teams have only met before on four occasions, with Arsenal leading the head-to-head 3-1 following their 3-0 aggregate win over the Italians in the quarter finals of the Europa League in 2019 in the Gunners’ run to the final.
Manchester United vs Sabah (Thu, 8pm)
Manchester United have won one, drawn one and lost one of their opening three matches of the new season after conceding a 96th minute equaliser against Everton on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils play their first champions League game in three years on Thursday when they take on Azerbaijani champions and tournament debutants Sabah, a team who were only founded nine years ago.
Their Lithuanian manager Valdas Dambrauskas started his coaching career after moving to England with the prize money he won on the Lithuanian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionare? after which he spent five years working as a youth coach at Manchester United.
Sabah have already played eight matches in the Champions League this season having entered the competition in the very first qualifying round, defeating teams from Wales, Finland, Denmark and Israel to book their place in the league phase.

“Jose Mourinho is back at Real Madrid and it’s the 15-time winners that have attracted the most support so far with 26.3% of global slips being for the 13/2 Bernabeu outfit, in front of 6/1 Barcelona who take 21.1%.
“5/1 favourites PSG sit just behind in third with 20.1% followed by Harry Kane’s 6/1 shots Bayern Munich with a 13.5% share.
“6/1 Arsenal are the best of the English with 8.7%, but there’s not much love for 9/1 Manchester City who take less than 2% – a side that were 2/1 favourites just two years ago.
“Man City and Haaland were 2/1 and 11/4 respectively just two years ago, now there’s not much love for either as they begin life under Enzo Maresca.”
