Chairs thrown and police forced to intervene after Crystal Palace fans caught up in brutal violence

Crystal Palace fans were caught up in clashes in Leipzig a day before their Conference League final.

Footage posted on social media appears to show Palace fans outside a bar in the German city on Tuesday evening.

A large group of men dressing in black t-shirts are also spotted arriving at their location before it all kicked off.

Chairs and punches were thrown between the two groups, and police had to intervene in the chaos.

People sitting outside other bars just yards away from the violence began to retreat whilst more men in black t-shirts turned up.

More chairs were thrown amid the noise of smashing glasses around them before police, armed with batons, pushed the large group back.

It’s unclear as to who initiated the clash in Leipzig.

Palace and Rayo Vallecano are both looking to win the Conference League for the first time, with the match coming live on talkSPORT.

The Eagles are eyeing their first ever European trophy and a win in the final will also see them earn a spot in next season’s Europa League.
