Cavs owner Dan Gilbert sends powerful message after eliminating Pistons

For the first time since 2018, the Cleveland Cavaliers will be playing in the Eastern Conference finals after successfully eliminating the Detroit Pistons on Sunday via a 125-94 win. The Cavs needed seven games to send Detroit home, and they completed the mission by winning Game 7 in enemy territory on Sunday at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.

Of course, one of the happiest people about the Cavs advancing to the next round of the NBA Playoffs and moving closer to an NBA title is none other than team owner Dan Gilbert, who shared his initial thoughts on the Cavaliers’ series win on social media.

“Congratulations to the whole Pistons organization on a great series. Thank you to the @cavs fans for being The Diff tonight. Last but not least… what a magical, outstanding win in the Motor City. Next up: The Big Apple. Let’s keep the journey alive,” Gilbert wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter, following Cleveland’s series win.

The Cavs have played the maximum number of games to reach the conference finals round, as they also had to go the full route in the first round against the Toronto Raptors. Cleveland is clearly battle-tested in the playoffs, and bringing down the top seed in the East in the second round should be a huge boost to the Cavs’ morale.

In the Cavaliers’ Game 7 win over Detroit, Donovan Mitchell had 26 points on 10-for-22 shooting, while Jarrett Allen produced 23 points and seven rebounds. Evan Mobley generated a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds to go along with six assists, two steals, and two blocks.

Up ahead for the Cavs is a showdown in the Eastern Conference finals against the New York Knicks.
