Cape Verde vs Saudi Arabia predictions and betting tips – Backing the Blue Sharks to make history
This is probably the biggest game in Cape Verde’s football history and I honestly think they can do it. They’ve been one of the surprise packages of the tournament, frustrating Spain before going toe-to-toe with Uruguay and they’ve fully deserved the plaudits coming their way.
Saudi Arabia still have a chance themselves but after taking just one point from two games I think the pressure is on them to force the issue.
That should actually play into Cape Verde’s hands because they’ve looked far more dangerous when games have opened up. I fancy the Blue Sharks to keep their incredible World Cup story going.
Cape Verde can guarantee qualification with a win while Saudi Arabia also need three points after taking just one from their opening two games.
My three favourite bets for this one:
- Cape Verde Draw No Bet – 4/5 with Sky Bet
- Both Teams To Score – 5/6 with Ladbrokes
- Ryan Mendes to score anytime – 3/1 with bet365

Cape Verde vs Saudi Arabia predicted lineups
Everything is on the line here and I’d expect both managers to stick with their strongest available sides. Cape Verde have no reason to change after two outstanding performances, while Saudi Arabia may recall Mohamed Kanno after he missed the defeat to Spain.
- Cape Verde expected lineup: Vozinha; Steven Moreira, Logan Costa, Stopira, Wagner Pina; Kevin Pina, Jamiro Monteiro, Deroy Duarte; Ryan Mendes, Helio Varela, Willy Semedo.
- Saudi Arabia expected lineup: Al Owais; Saud Abdulhamid, Hassan Tambakti, Ali Lajami, Ali Al-Bulaihi; Mohamed Kanno, Nasser Al-Dawsari; Salem Al-Dawsari, Musab Al-Juwayr, Abdulrahman Al-Obud; Abdullah Al-Hamdan.
Cape Verde vs Saudi Arabia predictions
I’ve absolutely loved watching Cape Verde at this World Cup. Plenty expected them to make up the numbers but they’ve done anything but that.
Holding Spain to a goalless draw was impressive enough but then to come from behind twice against Uruguay showed this team has real character.
They don’t panic, they stay in games and they’ve got players capable of producing moments in the final third.
Saudi Arabia haven’t been awful but I still think they’ve looked a level below. They deserved credit for taking a point off Uruguay but Spain exposed them badly and once they fell behind they never really looked capable of getting back into the game.
The big difference for me is that Saudi Arabia have to chase the win here. A draw isn’t much use to either side and I think that opens the game up.
That’s exactly why I like Cape Verde. They’ve looked so dangerous on the break throughout this tournament and I think they’ll get chances. Saudi Arabia should create opportunities too because they have to commit bodies forward, so I wouldn’t put anyone off both teams scoring.
Overall though, I just trust Cape Verde more. They’ve looked fearless from the first whistle of this tournament and I think they’re capable of making history. I’m calling it 2-1.
Cape Verde vs Saudi Arabia betting tips
I’ve gone for three angles here and they all point towards Cape Verde continuing what’s already been an unforgettable World Cup.
Back the fairytale to continue
Cape Verde have earned everyone’s respect over the last couple of weeks. They haven’t fluked results against Spain and Uruguay, they’ve genuinely deserved them.
Saudi Arabia have to take risks and I think that suits Cape Verde perfectly. Rather than taking the outright win, I’d rather protect myself with draw no bet.
Bet on Cape Verde Draw No Bet at 4/5 with Sky Bet
Both sides should find the net
This should be one of the more open games of the final round. Saudi Arabia need to win, Cape Verde know three points guarantees qualification and neither side will want to settle.
I can see chances at both ends and goals look the obvious play.
Bet on Both Teams To Score at 5/6 with Ladbrokes
Captain to deliver again
Ryan Mendes has led this team brilliantly throughout the tournament. He’s still the man they look towards when they need a big moment and in what is the biggest game in the country’s history, I’d much rather be with their captain than against him.
Bet on Ryan Mendes to score anytime at 3/1 with bet365
