Brighton & Hove Albion vs Liverpool predictions and betting tips – Turning point for Reds?

Liverpool will hope that their thumping of Galatasaray in midweek reignites their season as they prepare to turn their attention back to the Premier League on Saturday.

Brighton & Hove Albion are their opponents in the early kick-off. Can Liverpool boost their top-five chances by winning on the south coast, or will Brighton get something at the Amex Stadium?

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Liverpool predictions

No one at Anfield is getting carried away after Liverpool’s 4-0 victory over Galatasaray on Wednesday night.

Every time the Reds have seemed to turn a corner this season, it has turned out to be a cul-de-sac. There have been too many false dawns for Liverpool fans to get carried away after one good result against second-tier European opposition.

Yet it is also true that their performance in midweek was one of their best of the entire campaign.

Trailing 1-0 from the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, Liverpool blew Galatasaray away on home turf to advance to the quarter-finals, where they will face Paris Saint-Germain.

Granted, Galatasaray were dismal on the night. Without their ferocious home atmosphere at Rams Park, their relative lack of quality and dynamism was shown up.

Liverpool scored four and they could have had more. Mohamed Salah missed a penalty just before half-time and Alexis Mac Allister had a goal chalked off late on.

In total, Arne Slot’s side racked up an xG of 4.88, with 16 of their 32 shots finding the target. It was a dominant display from start to finish.

Slot will want to see more of the same this weekend, but the worry for Liverpool is that they have consistently been better in the Champions League than the Premier League this term.

A few days prior to their demolition of Galatasaray, Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw by crisis-ridden Tottenham Hotspur. They remain in the top five, but a one-point lead over Chelsea means their Champions League fate is still undecided with eight games left.

Brighton & Hove Albion are also in contention for European football, although they have plenty of work to do.

An eighth-place finish should be sufficient for Conference League qualification, so Brighton are only three points short at present.

However, they have some tricky games on the horizon: Fabian Hurzeler’s still have to face Chelsea and Manchester United, as well as Liverpool.

A victory over the latter on Saturday would be a timely shot in the arm for the side from the south coast.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Liverpool betting tips

Will Liverpool get their top-five bid back on track when they face Brighton & Hove Albion?

Frustration for Liverpool?

Liverpool have failed to win 16 of their 30 Premier League games this season, which suggests there is a better than 50 percent chance that they will drop points against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Slot’s team have not been firing on all cylinders in the league for some time. Just four of their 12 fixtures since the turn of the year have ended with Liverpool triumphant.

Indeed, in the table for 2026, the reigning champions rank eighth for points per game – just one place above Brighton.

The Seagulls, like their upcoming opponents, have been inconsistent for much of this campaign. But they have had a full week to prepare for this game and that will help them get something.

More goals after break

Three of Liverpool’s four goals against Galatasaray came after the interval, and that was not a one-off.

In the Premier League, the Reds have scored 32 goals in the second half compared to 17 in the first. They have also conceded more goals after the break than before: 28 versus 12.

For better or worse, Liverpool’s matches tend to come alive from the 46th minute onwards, and that could be the case at the Amex Stadium too.

Brighton have the fourth-best overall record in the second half of games, so they are likely to come on strong after the interval.

Welbeck to net?

Danny Welbeck has an outside shot at making the England squad for World Cup 2026.

That would be a remarkable achievement for a player who has not represented his country since 2018.

Welbeck, now 35, is ageing like a fine wine. With 10 goals to his name, this is already his joint-best scoring season in the Premier League, and the former Manchester United and Arsenal man still has plenty of time to kick on towards 15.

Liverpool still do not look quite right defensively and Welbeck has the nous to exploit any weaknesses this weekend.
