Brentford v Crystal Palace prediction

Crystal Palace will have one eye on their Conference League final at the end of May. Oliver Glasner shuffled his pack in the 3-0 defeat to title-chasing Man City on Wednesday.

And he may utilise the whole of his squad once more against Brentford who are chasing a European place.

Four points short of Bournemouth in sixth position, the Bees will hope to sign off at home in style. They’re aiming for their best-ever league finish to give themselves a real chance of claiming a European spot when it’s all said and done.

To counter the argument that Palace may be on the beach already. Despite losing former captain Marc Guéhi to Man City in January, the Eagles have kept an impressive 12 clean sheets this season, with only Arsenal (18) and City (15) registering more.

Palace have limited their opponents to an average of 11.4 shots per game – only the Premier League’s top two and Chelsea have protected their goal more diligently.

Brentford are one of the best counter-attacking sides in the league, with nine goals scored on break aways. And this is where the match may be won as Keith Andrew’s hope to sign off the season at home with three points.

Brentford v Crystal Palace betting tips

Thiag-oaaaal!

This is essentially, Igor Thiago’s debut season in the Premier League and he’s plundered 22 goals and helped fire Brentford to within touching distance of European qualification.

He’s a real goal-getter, with only one assist to his name and bounced back from fluffing his lines against Man Utd with a goal in the 3-0 win over West Ham earlier this month.

21 of his 22 goals have come against teams positioned 10th and below. He’s been ruthless against the lower-placed teams and this could rear its head again against Palace.

Brentford to start strong

With European qualification well and truly in sight, Brentford may go all out and throw the kitchen sink at Palace, roared on by their home crowd.

The Bees have bagged 22 goals in the first half of matches this season and could well do so again with Palace’s attentions elsewhere.
