Bournemouth v Brentford prediction

Bournemouth head into the opening night of the midweek round of Premier League matches looking to get back to winning ways following their 1-1 draw with Sunderland on Saturday lunchtime, their third stalemate in their last four matches.

Andoni Iraola’s side head into Tuesday’s bout unbeaten in their last eight Premier League outings but just one win in four has seen their push towards a first ever appearance in European competition stall somewhat.

The Cherries are keeping their points tally ticking over with these draws though, and head into the midweek round of fixtures just a point behind eighth place Everton, which is expected to be good enough for a place in the Conference League next season.

Despite their recent unbeaten record, the Dorset’s side’s home form in the last few months has left more than a little to be desired, with the south coast side having won just two home games since October.

Brentford make the trip to the south coast on Tuesday having just about sneaked past 19th placed Burnley in one of the more dramatic matches of the season, seeing a 3-0 lead slip, only to edge out a 4-3 win courtesy VAR ruling out two Burnley goals.

The victory means Keith Andrews’ side have won four of their last six matches in all competitions now, and saw them get back to winning ways after a disappointing home defeat against Brighton last time out.

Brentford kept hold of their seventh placed Premier League position in a season where they’ve exceeded all expectations after a tempestuous summer, now three points clear of eighth and just two behind Chelsea in the top six.

The Bees will be confident of returning from Dorset with victory on Tuesday, having won six of their last seven matches away from home in all competitions, only failing to win at Stamford Bridge in that time.

The west London side have won their last five matches against the Cherries, and haven’t tasted defeat against Tuesday’s opposition since the first leg of their Championship play-off semi final back in 2021, 10 meetings ago.

Bournemouth’s troublesome home record in recent months combined with Brentford’s exceptional away run, suggests the Bees should get over the line and take all three points back to the capital, a 2-1 away win seeming more than possibility.

Bournemouth v Brentford betting tips

Stalemate specialists strike even

Brentford make the trip to the Dorset coast having won six of their last seven away matches in all competitions, while Bournemouth have won only twice at home since October.

Thiago on target

Igor Thiago’s goal at Burnley in Saturday’s win took the Brentford striker to within one of hitting 20 goals in all competitions for the campaign, a tally only Erling Haaland has more than of Premier League players this season.

Jimenez humbled

No Bournemouth player has received more yellow cards this season than their on loan right back Alex Jimenez, who has been cautioned in three of his last five matches to take his tally for the campaign to eight.
