Iraola will leave Bournemouth at the end of this season – three years after he joined the Premier League side.

News of his pending exit was communicated last Tuesday afternoon, and the club have acted quickly to find a replacement.

They have turned to Rose, who has signed a three-year deal at the Vitality Stadium.

The 49-year-old is seen as a strong fit within the club’s model.

A club statement read: “AFC Bournemouth is delighted to confirm the appointment of Marco Rose as the club’s new head coach on a three-year contract, which will begin following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.

“The 49-year-old arrives on the south coast with a wealth of experience at the highest level of European football, having managed Red Bull Salzburg, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig.

“The club’s immediate focus remains firmly on finishing the current campaign as strongly as possible, with the players and staff continuing to show full commitment to achieving positive results and building on the current 13-game unbeaten run.

“Everyone at AFC Bournemouth looks forward to welcoming Marco to Vitality Stadium as he begins his role as head coach in the summer.”

talkSPORT understands Bournemouth did not want his arrival to overshadow Iraola and his preparations for the end of the campaign.

Bournemouth were impressed by the philosophy and experience of Rose, who has spent five previous seasons in the Champions League.

Rose also has a track record of working with young talents, such as Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham and Dominik Szoboszlai

He will be taking over a Bournemouth side who could be competing in Europe for the first time next season.

The south coast outfit are currently sitting eighth in the table with just five games to go.

As it stands, they are level on points with sixth-placed Chelsea – and just seven points off the Champions League spots.

Bournemouth have the chance to leapfrog the Blues in the table should they get at least a point against Leeds on Wednesday night.

The club currently boast the longest unbeaten run in the Premier League having failed to taste defeat in their last 13 matches – with their last loss coming against Arsenal on January 3.
