Bill Belichick hates coffee, but he hates the Jets even more

While you shouldn’t ever offer former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick a coffee, he might like it more than his former division rivals, the New York Jets.

During an interview with Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take, Belichick doubled down on his take on coffee. He doesn’t like the taste, look, or smell of it.

“I can’t even eat coffee ice cream, and I can eat anything that’s sugar. The coffee ice cream, it’s terrible. I hate it. So when they say, ‘Can you make coffee?’ No. I can’t make coffee, nor do I want coffee. If you want it, you make it yourself. I’m not making coffee. I don’t even know how to make it.”

He tripled down by claiming he wouldn’t even drink it “if there was nothing else to drink.” Now, he’s not completely “anti-caffeine.” He drinks tea and soda, just not coffee.

When asked if he despises coffee or the Jets more, Belichick didn’t hold back. He replied, “I’ll go with the Jets,” with barely any hesitation.

Bill Belichick’s long history with the Jets

Before he won six Super Bowls with the Patriots, Belichick was the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator of the Jets from 1997 to 1999. He served as the interim head coach twice during this stint.

In 2000, Belichick was hired as the team’s new head coach. However, this would not come to fruition, as he handed in a resignation note that was written on a napkin, opting to become the Patriots’ next head coach.

He remained there until 2023, winning six Super Bowls with Tom Brady. New England also lost three Super Bowls during Belichick’s time as the coach.

The Patriots were dominant during Belichick’s time as the head coach. They won the division most years, and the Jets only won the division once during this stretch. New York finished in fourth place in the AFC East nine times as well amid the Patriots’ reign of terror.
