Bayern Munich chief reveals they won’t accept £173million bid for star player in major Liverpool transfer blow

Bayern Munich chief Uli Hoeness has shut down the prospect of Michael Olise completing a summer move to Liverpool.

The former Crystal Palace star has excelled at Bayern with 36 goals and 43 assists in 94 appearances across all competitions since joining in 2024.

Now heading towards the end of his second season in Germany, Olise will likely be preparing for plenty of interest in the transfer window.

One club who have been linked with the Frenchman are Liverpool as they prepare to bid an emotional farewell to Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian announced on Tuesday that he will leave the club at the end of the season to end a glittering nine-year spell at Anfield.

Liverpool are therefore set to splash out to bring in his successor, with SPORT BILD claiming the Merseyside outfit would be prepared to offer around £173m for Olise.

But according to honorary Bayern president Hoeness, the 24-year-old is off limits.

Taking the Mich?

He said: “Liverpool have already spent €500million [£432m] this year and are having a very poor season.

“We won’t contribute to them playing better next year.”

Hoeness added: “We play this game for our fans.

“We have 430,000 members, we have millions of fans worldwide, and it doesn’t help them much if we have €200m [£173m] in the bank, but play worse football every Saturday because of it.”

Olise, who also has reported interest from Real Madrid, would likely have a potential record-breaking price tag if he was available.

However, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl backed Hoeness by also dismissing the chance of Olise leaving.

He remarked: “We’re not wasting any thought on that,” he told the German outlet.

“He’s an FC Bayern player and has all the opportunities here that top players could wish for.”

Who could Liverpool go for instead of Olise?

Salah’s exit this summer will mark the end of an era at Liverpool having chipped in with 255 goals and 122 assists in 435 appearances.

With Olise all-but confirmed to be unavailable, RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande has emerged as a reported target for the Reds.

The Ivory Coast international has 11 goals and eight assists for Leipzig since signing from Leganes in the summer.

Last summer, Liverpool were linked with a £100m move for former Everton star Anthony Gordon, who is now at Newcastle United.

However, talkSPORT reported last month that the Magpies have no plans to cash-in on the England international.
