The New Orleans Pelicans visited the Oklahoma City Thunder at BOK Center on Tuesday in the preseason, and Zion Williamson did not waste time in treating the crowd to a rim-rattling play.
In their second possession, Williams received a pass from Herbert Jones at the top of the key. Seeing a huge gap in the Thunder's defense, he drove hard to the lane and rose for a powerful slam.
Aday Mara made a business decision not to jump with Williamson—unless he wanted to have his first poster in the NBA.
Williamson had a strong campaign last season, playing 62 games—the second-most of his career. He averaged 21.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.0 steals.
As of this writing, the Pelicans are trailing the Thunder, 67-52, at halftime. Williamson has four points, four rebounds, and one assist in 11 minutes.
More details to come.
