Veteran tight end Zach Ertz is heading back to Philadelphia.
Ertz is signing with the Eaglesâ practice squad, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Ertz will presumably spend a short time on the practice squad getting up to speed and then be added to the active roster.
The return of Ertz comes a day after Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert suffered an MCL sprain that will cause him to miss a few weeks.
The 35-year-old Ertz was the Eaglesâ second-round draft pick in 2013 and played with them until they traded him to the Cardinals in 2021. He most recently played with the Commanders last year, but his season was cut short by a torn ACL.
In 2024, Ertz and Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni had a confrontation on the field after a Commanders-Eagles game, but both men later downplayed the seriousness of their argument.
Ertz was among the best tight ends in the NFL for a time during his first stint with the Eagles, and he won a Super Bowl ring with them in 2017.
