The Las Vegas Raiders have come back down to earth after their hot start. Las Vegas got humbled by New England in a humiliating 45-17 blowout loss in Week 5. Should the Raiders adjust their focus to the future instead of attempting to win right away during the 2026 season?
NFL insider Pete Prisco certainly seems to think so. He pushed the idea that Vegas should shop Maxx Crosby once again at the trade deadline.
“One name that's not on that list, Maxx Crosby. You were traded, they traded him and then they got him back,” Prisco said on Monday via NFL on CBS. “And you look the next two weeks, they have Buffalo and the Rams…. If they lose both those games, that's four straight. Then you go into the trade deadline and you say well maybe we can get something for Crosby.”
The Raiders nearly landed two first-round picks for Crosby this offseason before the Ravens scuttled the trade. They should be thrilled to get a similar offer for Crosby at this point in his career.
Prisco pointed to Vegas' brutal upcoming schedule to cast doubt on their chances to compete this season. If the season is already doomed, why not invest in the future?
“Could you see them losing six straight? Sure you could,” Prisco added.
Ultimately, Prisco believes that Crosby no longer matches the timeline for the Raiders.

Because I would, I don't think he's a part of the future,” Prisco concluded. “I think by the time they're good, he's not going to be a part of it. So you traded him once, put it out there again at the trade deadline. Maybe a desperate team, see Jacksonville, would make a deal to go get a pass rusher.”
Prisco also named the Bears and Cowboys as teams may want to acquire a pass rusher in a trade.
Next up for the Raiders is a Week 6 matchup against the Bills.
