The Philadelphia 76ers have seemingly transformed themselves into championship contenders overnight with the free agent signing of LeBron James and the Jaylen Brown trade with the Boston Celtics. At the very least, they’re among the Finals contenders in the Eastern Conference. But count former NBA guard Jeff Teague as one of the voices who has some doubts about this new look 76ers team.

During a recent episode of the ‘Club 520 Podcast,’ Jeff Teague explained his belief that the 76ers are going to take time to gel amid their new additions, especially with the style of basketball that the team’s star players tend to play.

“I think it’s going to take, not too much time, but it’s gonna take time for them to gel. I’m not on the Philly train,” Teague exclaimed. “Have they ever played where they got to move the ball in a certain light? Golden State had a brand of basketball where they shared the ball. And their shooting was so elite that dribbling and ISO basketball was just taken out. They rarely did ISOs. All these dudes are isolation players.”

Obviously the 76ers appear to be quite formidable on paper, but only time will tell how it all works out on the court. In any case, the Sixers would appear to have arguably the most formidable starting five in the NBA with James, Brown, Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid and VJ Edgecombe.

Aside from the marquee moves, the 76ers also shored up their roster depth with free agent signings of Anfernee Simons, Dean Wade, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Ariel Hukporti.
