The Dallas Mavericks’ Cooper Flagg has continued to break records left, right and center as he enters his sophomore season in All-Star form, having broken multiple franchise records already. For some, such as Jeff Teague, his performances are already enough to invite comparisons with established superstars, such as former Mavericks leader Luka Doncic.

Speaking on the Club 520 podcast, Teague compared the two players after initially apologizing to Flagg for his previous comments. He then went on to compare Flagg with multiple stars, including LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo, before claiming that he was more exciting to watch than Doncic.

"He is a lil more exciting, he dunking sh*t. Like on some real sh*t, when you watch Luka play, it ain’t exciting… Luka is cold but half the game… You will be mad."

“Boy, you about to be LeBron,” he said. ”He is a lil more exciting, he dunking sh*t. Like on some real sh*t, when you watch Luka play, it ain’t exciting… Luka is cold but half the game… You will be mad. This dude, when I watch him play, I am like, he f***ing with Giannis bro.”

The praise arrived after the Mavericks won on the road against the new-look Miami Heat, which saw Flagg become the first teenager in league history to record at least 25 points, 10 assists, five rebounds and five steals in a single game. While he may still be just 20, Flagg is already establishing himself as one of the best two-way players in the league, and is currently averaging 25 points, 6.3 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game.

He is also currently the league’s steals leader with 3.7 per game, and has an effective field goal percentage of 62. There is little doubt that Flagg has begun the season in prime form, and is well on his way to establishing himself as the league’s next prodigy.

His start to the season and has also earned some more direct comparisons with LeBron, with ESPN’s Brian Windhorst recently claiming that he is a better defender, has a better jump shot, and is defensively more versatile than James was at 19. For now of course, Flagg will be looking to take things in his stride, and will be focussed on helping his team win as many games in the regular season as possible.
