The Dallas Mavericks swung a big trade in the offseason when they acquired former No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher, who had fallen out of favor with the Atlanta Hawks. The Mavericks had a team option for the fourth year of Risacher’s rookie contract, and they decided to pick that option up, as per ClutchPoints’ NBA insider Brett Siegel, guaranteeing that he remains on the Mavericks roster at least through next season.
With the Mavericks picking up Zaccharie Risacher’s contract option for 2027-28, he will on pace to potentially hit restricted free agency the 2028 offseason. This year is a fresh start for the French native who was the NBA Draft’s top pick in 2024.
After a solid rookie season with the Hawks in 2024-25, Risacher took a step backwards last year, and by the time the playoffs rolled around, he was largely out of the rotation. He appeared in only three games of the Hawks’ opening round playoff loss to the New York Knicks at a little over seven minutes per game.
Risacher had a strong preseason with the Mavericks, and he’s been a staple in new head coach Dusty May’s rotation to begin the year. He‘s played in all four of the team’s games thus far, including one start, at just about 30 minutes per game.
