The New Orleans Pelicans have stumbled out of the gates so far this season, currently sitting at 0-3 ahead of Wednesday's game vs the Denver Nuggets. The Pelicans have been the subject of trade speculation over the last couple of years, including regarding Zion Williamson, Trey Murphy III, and Herb Jones.
However, the latest reports from NBA insider Marc Stein don't suggest anything coming on that front anytime soon.
“…the team has not indicated a willingness to trade Herb Jones. Jones played sparingly in the Pels' first three games. They have maintained a high threshold on trade interest in Trey Murphy III and Jones for months,” reported Stein on X, formerly Twitter.
Some fans have taken the small amount of minutes that Jones has played so far in each game as a sign that the team is exploring trade options for him, but evidently, this is not the case.
Jones profiles as one of the premier perimeter defenders in the NBA, who can also stretch the floor to the three-point line on offense, but a plateau in his development, combined with a storied injury history, has seemingly limited his value on the trade market.
Meanwhile, most of the Pelicans' trade rumors seem to have focused on Murphy III over the last season or so, although the team doesn't seem to have come particularly close to moving him, either.
Article Continues BelowIt's clear that some sort of change is needed amid another brutal start to the year for New Orleans, with not much having changed despite the head coaching switch the team made this offseason.
In any case, the Pelicans will tip off Wednesday's game against the Nuggets at 8:00 pm ET from New Orleans.
