The Carolina Panthers got another huge win in Week 6. Carolina took care of a reeling Philadelphia team in an ugly 25-14 victory on the road. One Panthers player comes out of that game looking pretty good while in the middle of a contract year.

Former NFL player Leger Douzable made the argument that Carolina needs to pay QB Bryce Young as soon as possible after another solid performance.

“Yea he should be, I would say the top seven or eight in the league, in that conversation. I've been a huge Bryce Young fan,” Douzable said on Monday. “I felt like last year, he showed us a lot especially coming from where he came from. I don't know if any quarterback would have had success his rookie season, given what he dealt with. And then he ultimately gets benched by Dave Canales…. for him to bounce back and lead his team to the playoffs last year, and go toe to toe with the reigning MVP in Matthew Stafford, he showed that he's a quarterback that is going to take that next step.”

Young did not play a perfect game, but he weathered the storm in hostile territory. He finished the game 20-of-39 for 281 passing yards with two touchdowns. Young connected with Tommy Tremble for both of his touchdown passes.

The Panthers have yet to extend Young, though paying him was a big point of discussion throughout the offseason. Douzable noted that waiting to pay Bryce will only make him more expensive.

“I said this earlier this offseason… if you're the Carolina Panthers and you're smart, you pay Bryce now because the price tag is only going to go up,” Douzable added. “We know what the market is, it's probably going to start around $55 million for him. If he gets the Panthers to the playoffs in back-to-back years, he could potentially ask for $60 million per year. That's what the going rate is now for quarterbacks.”

It is great to see Young playing at a high level. But ultimately, Carolina may wait to see how this entire season plays out before making a decision on Young's future.

Next up for the Panthers is a home game against the Buccaneers in Week 7.
