The Tampa Bay Rays came up short in the World Series as they lost in five games to the Milwaukee Brewers. But despite the defeat, Kevin Cash was proud of his team for what they achieved.
In his post-game interview with Ken Rosenthal, Cash revealed his message to the team after their World Series heartbreak.
“How incredibly grateful we are for what they did for the last seven months. It's a special group. We came up short. Congrats to the Brewers and the entire organization. The guys are hurting right now, but they can see how special of a group this was and can really appreciate it in a tough moment like this,” Cash said.
Cash made a big call to start the World Series by opting for Nick Martinez over ace Drew Rasmussen, who had been lights out in the playoffs. That move didn't work out as Martinez took the loss. But Cash's other top starters, Rasmussen and Freddy Peralta, also came up short in their starts as the Rays went down a 3-0 hole.

Despite the defeat, Cash should be proud of this Rays team that snapped their mini-playoff drought. They were also able to win the AL East for the first time since 2021, which is quite a feat. But after a second World Series defeat, it's back to the drawing board for Cash and his team.
