New York Knicks coach Mike Brown went with a unique unit to finish off the Chicago Bulls, 133-127, in a fierce battle at United Center on Wednesday.

Brown went with Jalen Brunson, Jordan Clarkson, Landry Shamet, OG Anunoby, and Karl-Anthony Towns in the fourth quarter. It was a stroke of genius, as the Knicks outscored the Bulls, 43-31, to complete the come-from-behind victory and improve to 2-3. New York clawed back from a 19-point deficit.

With a crowded rotation, Mikal Bridges became the odd man out. He only played 13 minutes and was benched in the final period. Brown explained that Bridges' limited action was simply due to the game's matchups.

“We just found combinations that we went with. (Tyler) Kolek with Jalen. JC extended minutes. Landry was playing well. Now there's not much room. It's harder to go back to what we started with,” said Brown, as shared by New York Basketball.

Bridges had three points on 1-of-4 shooting and one turnover.

The 30-year-old wingman is having a mediocre start in his third season with the Knicks. He is averaging 5.0 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists. He is shooting just 27.0% from the field.

Last season, Bridges also had a rough start before finding his rhythm. He had another slump in the first round of the playoffs against the Atlanta Hawks. But he brushed it off and became a key contributor en route to the championship.

Last year, the Knicks signed him to a four-year, $150 million contract extension. He has not missed a game since entering the NBA in 2018.

New York will visit the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday.
