After Jackson State's shocking loss to Bethune-Cookman, T.C. Taylor is set to make official strategy changes in their next game against Mississippi Valley State, after a bye week. Taylor said he plans to be more involved in the offense.
“Just being a little more involved myself. The last couple of years, I’ve been taking a backseat to a lot of the play-calling. I’ve got to be a little more involved with it. And I’m going to do that this week.”
Statistically, Jackson State is still one of the best offenses in the SWAC. They rank number four in scoring offense, averaging 35.6 points per game, and they're in the top five in total offense, rushing offense, and passing offense. But the Bethune-Cookman game saw them generate only 244 yards of total offense and 33 rushing yards on 36 attempts.
Taylor says he plans to use the bye week to reset as they enter a tough stretch of the schedule.
“I like when we get to a bye week. I like to go back and look at all the plays we’ve run and things we can do for each player, the guys that we’re really counting on in these situations.”
He also specifically pinpointed ways that they can deal with different defensive coverages, specifically ones where the defense is pressuring the pass game.

Jackson State faces in-state rival Mississippi Valley on November 7.
